The hammer and sickle are the most well known symbols of communism. It’s symbolizes the unity of the workers (hammer) and the farmers (sickle) in the struggle against capitalism and large land ownership.
In 1917 the symbol appears for the first time and in 1922 the symbol was integrated in the flag of the Soviet Union.
